Has Child Safety Gone Too Far?
A bill passed in Florida called: Jeffrey Johnston Stand Up for All Students Act (Fla. Stat. section 1006.147) which makes a daring attempt to protect your children.
According to the article the following things could be examples of “bullying”:
Teasing;
Social exclusion;
Threat;
Intimidation;
Stalking;
Physical violence;
Theft;
Sexual or racial harassment;
Public humiliation; or
Destruction of property.
Teasing? Social Exclusion? Attempting to “protect” your children from [...]
Terri Schiavo “Darling Memo” Revisited
Image via Wikipedia
I’m sure most people remember the Terri Schiavo case in 2005. This case was extremely controversial at the time. While this is old news, I would like to revisit the “Darling Memo” to see the role played by the office of Senator Martinez.
The Darling memo was also called a list of “talking points” by Senator Martinez; [...]
Saggin’ Pants: A lesson in liberty
From time to time, I will post things completely unrelated to senators in Florida. Some things are too important not to mention.

My Reply To Senator Martinez
Hello Senator Martinez,
I appreciate your prompt response on this issue. You always seem to respond quickly and effectively; I respect that. I have no doubt you work tirelessly to further what many would believe to be in our country’s best interest. I do understand why many people feel this legislation should pass, however, when targeting someone reasonably believed to be [...]
Senator Mel Martinez Responded To My Email
Below is a response to the recent comments I received from you:
Dear Mr. Meehan:
Thank you for contacting me regarding foreign intelligence surveillance. I appreciate hearing from you and would like to respond to your concerns.
The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) of 1978 provided the U.S. intelligence community with a framework to regulate the collection of [...]
FISA Bill approved by both FL Senators
The new FISA legislation, for those who haven’t read about it, approves immunity for the telecom industry involved in the illegal wire-tapping program the Bush administration started, as long as the telco gets a letter from the presidential administration saying the action was appropriate. This is a dangerous precedent to set. No administration has the [...]
My Letter to Senator Martinez about FISA
I would like to know why you decided to support the FISA legislation?
I am surprised anyone would vote yes on this bill.
Please explain to me why you think the telcos should get immunity when
they violated the law. President Bush does not have the authority to
tell private companies it is ok for them to break current [...]
